Why I Created Regulate Wellness: Making Room for the Whole Person

You can be capable, dependable, and accustomed to getting things done while also feeling exhausted by what it takes. I know what it is to keep moving because life requires it, even when part of me needs something different. Regulate Wellness™ grows from that experience and my desire to make more room for the whole person.

The Experience Behind My Work

My work is deeply personal. I have lived through numerous near-death experiences, two kidney transplants, sickle cell disease, chronic pain, and mental health challenges. These experiences have shaped how I understand survival, safety, and the need for care that makes room for the whole person.

I choose to acknowledge my mental health experiences because silence can deepen stigma. We deserve to speak about emotional and psychological suffering with the same compassion we bring to physical illness. My story is still unfolding, and caring for myself remains an ongoing practice.

I appreciate my ability to keep going, but I also want room to experience life beyond getting through it. There is grief in what illness interrupts, in plans that change, and in the energy that daily life can require. Being resilient does not erase those experiences or remove the need for support. We deserve care for the life we are living now, including the parts that other people may never see.

Why I Created Regulate Wellness

I created Regulate Wellness to bring together nervous system education, self-awareness, and practices that invite people to reconnect with themselves. I want to make room for what we feel in our bodies, what we think, what we believe, and what gives our lives meaning. I am interested in how we learn to listen to those experiences and bring that awareness into everyday choices. That includes respecting the circumstances that can make change difficult.

Sometimes we become so familiar with a habit that we stop noticing it. We agree before checking whether we have the capacity, push through discomfort, or speak to ourselves in ways we would never speak to someone we love. We may understand that something needs to change and still struggle to respond differently. I want RW to offer a place to explore those moments with curiosity and compassion.

Making Room for Your Inner World

Self-awareness can begin with a question you have not had much space to ask. What do I need? What am I feeling, and what happens when I allow myself to acknowledge it? The answer may be clear, uncomfortable, uncertain, or slow to arrive.

These are some of the questions I want to make room for:

  • What do I notice in my body when I pause?
  • What do I repeatedly tell myself about who I am and what I deserve?
  • Which habits support me, and which leave me feeling further from myself?
  • What am I agreeing to because I want to, and what am I afraid will happen if I say no?
  • What matters to me beneath other people’s expectations?
  • What would caring for myself look like within the realities of my life today?

You can write, type, reflect quietly, or return to a question later. You do not have to turn every observation into an immediate action. Sometimes noticing gives you language for something you have carried without knowing how to describe it. From there, you can consider what support or next step might be useful.

An Integrative Approach, With Room for Choice

I bring an integrative perspective to my work, drawing from mindfulness, Reiki, meditation, breathwork, journaling, and nervous system education. I make room for the connections between what we feel in our bodies, our emotions, our thoughts, and our spiritual lives. My intention is to help people become more aware of their inner world and explore practices that support connection, self-trust, and choices that reflect what matters to them. Different people connect with different practices, and I respect each person’s beliefs, comfort, and pace.

These practices have different foundations, and I do not treat them as interchangeable. A reflective question, a meditation, and a Reiki session offer different kinds of experiences. There is room to ask questions, adapt a practice, or decide that something does not fit you. Your participation should include your choice.

Spirituality is also part of my perspective, and I welcome it when it is meaningful to the person. For me, that conversation can include faith, intuition, purpose, and connection alongside anger, grief, doubt, and uncertainty. We should be able to acknowledge difficult experiences honestly. Growth can include learning how to stay present with what is true for us.

Bringing Awareness Into Everyday Life

I am especially interested in the space between knowing what we want and doing what supports it. Learned habits can pull us toward familiar choices, even when we recognize their cost. Awareness gives us something to work with, but practicing a different response may take time and support. It may also require boundaries, resources, or changes in our surroundings.

When I speak about alignment, I mean bringing our thoughts and actions into greater agreement with what we actually want. Our feelings can bring information and energy to that process. In everyday life, alignment might look like asking for help, honoring a limit, making room for something meaningful, or allowing yourself to reconsider an old belief. The expression will be different for each person.

What You Can Expect From RW

Regulate Wellness offers coaching, educational speaking, and opportunities for reflection and practice. Through this blog, I will share personal reflections, nervous system education, and questions that invite you to explore your inner world. My lived experience informs this work, alongside my ongoing studies toward a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. My current services are coaching and education, not psychotherapy or medical treatment.

The practices I share do not replace medical care or mental health treatment, and they do not promise to remove pain or hardship. My intention is to offer support that respects both what you have lived through and the life you want to create. You do not have to pretend that everything is resolved to participate in that exploration. There is room for you as you are.

A Place to Begin: Your Regulation Compass™

If you are curious about how you respond when life feels overwhelming, Your Regulation Compass™ offers a starting point. It is a free educational reflection tool designed to help you notice familiar stress responses and explore supportive practices. It does not diagnose a condition or define who you are. Think of it as an invitation to become more familiar with yourself.

My hope is that you find something here that helps you pause, ask a meaningful question, or recognize a need you have been overlooking. You are welcome with mixed feelings, unfinished answers, and a story that is still unfolding. I am glad you are here.

With care for all of you,
